Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft Destination Called ‘Inevitable’

Colorado Buffaloes star Shedeur Sanders is widely viewed as the second-best quarterback prospect in this year’s NFL Draft class, but in spite of the fact that there are plenty of quarterback-needy teams selecting toward the top of the draft, Sanders’ stock seems to be slipping.

The Cleveland Browns appear to be locked in on Travis Hunter at No. 2 (or at least that’s what the latest rumors say), and the New York Giants may very well select Abdul Carter third overall.

That means Sanders could potentially fall quite a bit, but Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport doesn’t seem to think he will plummet that far, naming the New Orleans Saints as an “inevitable” destination for the signal-caller later this month.

“It’s a pick that makes a lot of sense for the Saints,” Davenport wrote. “[Derek] Carr isn’t any kind of long-term option in New Orleans, and taking Sanders ninth overall isn’t reaching. There will be a bit of a slip. But a full-blown slide? It stops in the Big Easy.”

Sanders threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 74 percent of his passes this past season, finishing eighth in Heisman Trophy voting.

While the 23-year-old has actually drawn some comparisons to Patrick Mahomes, many scouts, executive and experts seem to be divided on what type of player Sanders will actually become on the NFL level.

There have been some questions about Sanders’ overall talent, and his lack of mobility could present an issues in a modern landscape that places so much emphasis on dual-threat quaterbacks.

Regardless, there are plenty of teams that need an answer under center, so it seems hard to envision Shedeur Sanders spiraling too far on April 24.
