The two-time WNBA defending champion Las Vegas Aces have gotten off to a strong start in 2024. While their defense hasn’t been as strong as in years past, their offense remains operating at a high level. Leading the way in that regard is star center A’ja Wilson.
A’ja Wilson had already made some WNBA history earlier this season. She was the first player in league history to record 20+ points and 10+ rebounds in the first five games of a season. After falling one rebound short of another 20-10 game against the Atlanta Dream to extend her streak to six, she got back on track against the Dallas Wings.
On Wednesday night, A’ja Wilson scored a season-high 36 points, shooting 15-of-22 from the floor, making her one 3-point attempt and 5-of-6 from the foul line. She grabbed 12 rebounds while handing out two assists with six blocks and one steal.
For the second time this season, the Las Vegas Aces star made WNBA history. In her dominant performance against the Wings, A’ja Wilson became the first player to ever score at least 35 points with double-digit rebounds and at least five blocks.

There is nothing on the court that A’ja Wilson isn’t capable of doing currently. With the Las Vegas Aces still waiting on Chelsea Gray to recover from her injury suffered in the 2023 WNBA Finals, Wilson has taken on a larger role offensively.
She has thrived, putting up some historic numbers to this point. With two WNBA MVP awards already under her belt, A’ja Wilson is putting herself in a position to win a third. The two-time defending Defensive Player of the Year is continuing to get the job done on that end of the court as well.
As long as she is playing at this level, the Las Vegas Aces are going to be a difficult team to contend with. It would not be a stretch to say A’ja Wilson is currently the best female basketball player in the world.
