The Golden State Warriors waived forward Tyler Burton, guard Dalen Terry, and forward Alex Toohey on Saturday, according to the NBA transaction log and a team announcement.
The moves reduce the roster as the club finalizes its Opening Night group ahead of the 2026-27 regular season, with the deadline set for 2 p.m. PDT on Monday, October 19.
Of the three, Terry stands out as the most experienced.
The 24-year-old, selected 18th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2022 NBA Draft, signed a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 contract with Golden State in late August after the Philadelphia 76ers waived him to create hard-cap space for LeBron James.
He appeared in five preseason games (one start), averaging 6.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 steals in roughly 14 minutes per game.
League sources indicated the Warriors like Terry’s versatility and expect him to open the season with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League, even without Exhibit 10 language that would have guaranteed a reporting bonus.
Burton, a 26-year-old 6-foot-7 forward, joined on an Exhibit 10 deal just days earlier, on October 11. The Warriors had previously acquired his G League rights in a trade involving the Santa Cruz Warriors and Memphis Hustle.
An undrafted player who appeared in 12 games for the Grizzlies last season (averaging about 10.8 points), he saw limited action in Golden State’s preseason, logging five scoreless minutes against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
Toohey, the 22-year-old Australian forward drafted 52nd overall by the Phoenix Suns in 2025 and acquired by the Warriors in the multi-team Kevin Durant deal, returned on an Exhibit 10 contract signed September 9.
After a brief two-way stint last season that ended with a knee injury and waiver, he played in four preseason games off the bench, averaging 2.5 points, 0.8 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 1.0 block in just over eight minutes.
He was notably waived roughly 30 minutes after being saluted on the Chase Center jumbotron during a Golden State Valkyries WNBA Finals game.
With the roster now at 18 players following the cuts, the decisions also strengthen the outlook for Brandon Williams, whose non-guaranteed contract runs through January and gives the front office flexibility.
Golden State will open the season needing a finalized 15-man standard roster (plus two-way slots), and these waivers clear the way for final evaluations after a preseason that concluded with a 128-118 win over Portland.
The three players become free agents and are expected to draw interest from G League affiliates or other NBA teams seeking depth as camps wind down.
