Former Clemson Tigers cornerback Jeadyn Lukus was waived by the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, closing a short NFL chapter just two weeks after he signed with the team.

The move, made to add defensive end Jamil Muhammad, is another reminder of how unforgiving roster math can be for an undrafted rookie joining camp midstream.

Lukus arrived at Clemson in 2022 as a five-star prospect and the top player in South Carolina. The Mauldin product brought size, length, and explosiveness that fit the Tigers’ defensive identity.

Over four seasons with the Tigers, he played 43 games with 15 starts, finishing with 61 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and two interceptions. Injuries limited his snaps, especially as a senior, when he saw just 197 defensive plays.

Still, he showed the same competitiveness that made him a highly touted recruit. He earned his degree in sports communication in December 2025 before turning pro.

Undrafted in April, Lukus signed with the Tennessee Titans. They waived him on Aug. 1. Five days later he landed in Cleveland after a workout that impressed the Browns’ staff.

He wore No. 38 and appeared in the preseason opener at Chicago, recording two tackles on 25 snaps. The opportunity was brief. Training-camp numbers are tight, and Cleveland needed the roster spot for pass-rush help.

From the Clemson side, this is familiar territory. The NFL does not pause for development or pedigree. Late additions face an uphill fight to stick, and many talented players cycle through multiple teams before finding a foothold.

Lukus has the physical tools—6-foot-2, 205 pounds, a 4.41 forty, long arms—and the work ethic the Tigers saw for four years. Those traits do not disappear because one roster decision went the other way.

The program’s perspective is straightforward: we take pride in every Tiger who reaches this level, and we stay in their corner when the path gets bumpy.

Lukus battled through injuries at Clemson and still contributed. He has already shown the ability to earn another look after being released once. That resilience is part of what he learned in Death Valley.

His next stop is unknown. Practice-squad opportunities or another camp invitation remain possible as teams finalize 53-man rosters.

For now, the Tigers family simply notes the latest chapter and wishes him well. Once you wear the orange, that support does not end with a waiver. Jeadyn Lukus remains a Tiger.
