Across multiple stops in the minors, including earlier seasons with the Orioles and Cardinals organizations, Rom consistently posted elevated strikeout rates that suggested he could develop into a useful big-league arm.
Rom first reached the majors with St. Louis in 2023, making eight starts, but struggled with command and a high ERA that year.
After time away dealing with injuries and electing free agency following the 2025 season, the Brewers gave him a fresh opportunity. He responded with solid work in Triple-A before earning multiple call-ups this summer.
The latest demotion and subsequent designation for assignment reflect the constant roster crunch that successful contenders like Milwaukee face as they manage injuries and depth.
