Carmelo Anthony has officially been inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, marking a pivotal moment in his illustrious career.
Anthony expressed profound relief at his election in a conversation on ESPN with Rece Davis and Jay Bilas. “It allowed me to relax knowing I had made it,” he explained, describing the news as “a burden lifted off my shoulders.”
Carmelo Anthony is ‘Satisfied’ with Basketball Career

This acknowledgment is a significant validation for Anthony, who stated that the Hall of Fame selection made him feel “satisfied” knowing that his lifelong dedication to mastering the game had finally been recognized.
“I’m satisfied. It was worth it. I’m satisfied. I’m here. Again, it just comes back to being satisfied,” Anthony explained. “When you are an athlete and you’re playing, you’re competing and your coaches tell you, never be satisfied. So you have that mentality until you can sit back and take yourself out of that situation in that moment and realize, I’m good on basketball. I’m satisfied. This is the gates, this is the doors. And it’s nothing that anyone can take away from now.”
Anthony’s induction highlights his achievements and commemorates his role on the 2008 USA Olympic men’s basketball team, the Redeem Team, which will also be honored at the ceremony.
Hall of Fame Induction is Carmelo Anthony’s Top Picked Achievement

2025 marks Anthony’s first year of eligibility for the Hall of Fame. Although he officially retired in May 2023, his last NBA game was played in April 2022 with the Los Angeles Lakers. Anthony’s career has been marked by exceptional achievements, including ten All-Star selections and recognition on the NBA’s 75th anniversary team.
“This is it. This is it. It doesn’t get any better than this. It doesn’t get greater than this,” said Anthony. “All of those things, those accomplishments that you have mentioned, this just puts a cap on that and it makes it all worth the while—I keep going back to the journey. You all hear me talk about the journey. It’s a journey when you are doing this for two decades.
“You have to take the good, the bad, the ugly with that,” Anthony explained. “If you go through that process with the good, the bad the ugly and you come on the other side of it, and this is the blessing I get for going through that, this is the greatest accomplishment that I ever will accomplish, let me tell you that.”
The enshrinement ceremony, set for September 6 in Springfield, Massachusetts, will celebrate his contributions and impact on teams like the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks, with whom he spent significant parts of his career.
Anthony joins other Nuggets legends in the Hall and becomes the 11th player with a significant tenure at the Knicks to receive this honor.
