The Atlanta Hawks have made Dejounte Murray widely available on the trade market, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.

Murray is making $17.7 million this season. He signed a four-year, $114 million extension with the Hawks in July. The extension kicks in next season.

“The premier point guard on the market before the Feb. 8 trade deadline may be Atlanta’s Dejounte Murray, a former All-Star whom the Hawks have made widely available, according to league sources, two years after trading three first-round picks to acquire Murray from San Antonio,” Fischer wrote.

The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for Murray, who is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Dejounte Murray, Atlanta Hawks Updates

A one-time All-Star, Murray is averaging 20.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.3 blocks this season while shooting 46.0% from the field, 38.3% from beyond the arc and 82.5% from the free-throw line. He has three double-doubles and is 10th in the NBA in steals per game.

The Hawks are only 14-19 despite having Murray and Trae Young. They have informed multiple teams that the only untouchable players on the roster are Young and Jalen Johnson.

Atlanta acquired Murray from the San Antonio Spurs in June 2022. The front office was excited to pair Murray with Young. However, the Hawks won only 41 games last season and lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in six games.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Dejounte Murray, Atlanta Hawks Updates

This season hasn’t been any different for Atlanta. The team is in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Many NBA execs believe the Hawks should trade Murray and rebuild again around Young. It will be intriguing to see what happens in Atlanta.
