This Cowboys-Bills Trade Sends Stefon Diggs To Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys could end up being a prime destination for wide receiver Stefon Diggs if the Buffalo Bills opt to trade him this offseason.

The Bills just fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the playoffs on Sunday night, marking yet another year of disappointment in Buffalo.

As a result, the Bills are going to have to make some tough decisions this offseason. They can’t seem to get over the hump, and their salary cap situation is brutal. They are going to have to get creative in order to truly move forward, which could mean they may have to trade Diggs.

Should Buffalo decide to place Diggs on the trade block, he would obviously have no shortage of suitors. In spite of a somewhat down year in 2023, he remains one of the NFL’s most productive wide outs, and while he isn’t exactly young, he isn’t old either at the age of 30.

While many teams will vie for Diggs’ services, it’s hard to imagine many better fits than the Dallas Cowboys.

Yes, the Cowboys have CeeDee Lamb, but beyond that, they don’t exactly have much depth at wide out. Brandin Cooks appears to be a shell of the player he once was, and injuries have completely sapped Michael Gallup, who looked like a top up and coming receiver several years ago.

Dak Prescott could certainly use more targets in the aerial attack, and who better than Diggs to fill that void? Imagine a duo of Lamb and Diggs? It would likely be the best receiving tandem in football, and it would send opposing secondaries scrambling.

Because Diggs has a big contract and will not be a free agent until 2027, the Cowboys may be able to get him without giving up a first-round draft pick. Dallas could send a 2024 second-round pick and a fifth-rounder to the Bills in exchange for Diggs, which would allow Buffalo to shed his salary while also picking up a couple of draft assets in return to help facilitate a potential rebuild (or retool).

It seemed pretty clear this season that there is some sort of disconnect between Diggs and the Bills’ offense. Whether that’s between him and Josh Allen or him and the coaching staff is anyone’s guess, but the fact that he didn’t log a single 100-yard game after Oct. 15 indicates that something is off.

The Cowboys could represent a great opportunity for Stefon Diggs to get back on track.
