Miami Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL in the Dolphins’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens this past weekend, but he is remaining hopeful for the future.

In spite of the trials Chubb is currently facing, he is standing on his faith and quoted some scripture out of the Bible to describe his current situation.

The passage comes from James 1:2-4 and reads as following out of the New International Version:

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Chubb made the post on his Instagram story (via David Furones of The Sun Sentinel).

The 27-year-old logged six tackles before suffering the devastating injury against the Ravens. On the season overall, Chubb racked up 74 tackles, 11 sacks, six forced fumbles and a couple of fumble recoveries in what may have been the best year of his NFL career.

Chubb was playing his first full campaign in Miami after coming over in a midseason trade with the Denver Broncos last year. He posted 13 tackles and 2.5 sacks in eight games with the Dolphins in 2022.

The North Carolina State product was originally selected by the Broncos with the fifth overall pick of the 2018 NFL Daft. He went on to have a brilliant rookie debut, rattling off 60 tackles, 12 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Unfortunately, injuries largely defined Chubb’s tenure in Denver, as he played in just four games during his sophomore campaign and then seven games in 2021. Between those two seasons, Chubb made his first Pro Bowl, registering 42 tackles, 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 2020.

The Broncos then dealt him to the Dolphins as part of a package that sent a first-round pick back to Denver. Chubb made his second trip to the Pro Bowl last season after accumulating 39 tackles, eight sacks and three forced fumbles between both clubs.

Miami fell to 11-5 with its loss to Baltimore. While the Dolphins have already clinched a playoff berth, they will battle the Buffalo Bills for AFC East supremacy in South Beach this Sunday. The winner will capture the division title. Unfortunately, Miami will have to do it without its best pass rusher in Bradley Chubb. The Bills have won the last three meetings.
