Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr strongly fired back at people questioning the leadership of Stephen Curry in the wake of Draymond Green getting in trouble again.

Green has been suspended by the NBA indefinitely for hitting Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith went on “First Take” and criticized Curry’s leadership and Kerr wasn’t happy about that at all.

“For anybody to question Steph Curry’s leadership, it’s actually kind of sickening to me,” Kerr said. “I saw some of that yesterday. It was disgusting. We’re talking about one of the finest human beings that I have ever been around. But that’s the climate that we live in. And these guys, it’s part of all of this. It’s just the climate we live in and the arrows that are, you know, slung at these guys and the judgment, the criticism, that’s fine.”

Green has been ejected three times this season. He was suspended five games earlier in the season for putting Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert in a headlock.

Green has gotten in trouble with the NBA several times, but Kerr doesn’t believe Curry should be punished for that.

“But it’s not easy. We’re all human beings. As a professional athlete, you have to deal with everything and you have to accept it,” Kerr said. “But there are times when you kind of have to say really, like, that’s the angle you’re going to take? You’re going to question Steph Curry’s leadership? We’re going to do that? Think about that.”

The Warriors are 10-14 on the season. They are in 11th place in the Western Conference standings. Curry is the only player on the team averaging over 20.0 points.
