The Philadelphia 76ers continued their winning streak by defeating the Detroit Pistons with a score of 129-111. This loss marked the Pistons’ 21st consecutive defeat, tying their longest losing streak from the 1979-80 and 1980-81 seasons. This streak is currently the sixth-longest in NBA history.

Pistons coach Monty Williams expressed his frustration, emphasizing the need for a determined attitude in the team, especially in improving their gameplay and reducing errors.

“I don’t want anyone to be happy in this situation,” Williams said. “I want to see an ornery locker room that’s tired — not just of losing, but tired of missing shots and tired of giving up 39-point quarters.”

The record for the longest single-season losing streak is held by the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and the 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers, each with 26 consecutive losses. The Philadelphia 76ers also hold the record for the overall longest losing streak at 28 games, spanning two seasons from 2014-15 to 2015-16.

After this defeat, Detroit’s record stands at 2-22. The teams are scheduled for a rematch in Philadelphia. Bojan Bogdanovic and Cade Cunningham were notable performers for Detroit, scoring 33 and 21 points, respectively.

Joel Embiid of the 76ers had an impressive game, scoring 30 of his 41 points in the first half and securing 11 rebounds. 76ers coach Nick Nurse praised Embiid’s versatile and unpredictable playing style. Tobias Harris, a former Piston, and Kelly Oubre Jr. also contributed significantly to the 76ers’ victory.

“We tried our best,” Pistons center James Wiseman said. “I took on the challenge and tried to contain him. We didn’t back down from him.”

The 76ers held a strong lead throughout the game, dominating in rebounds and capitalizing on Detroit’s struggles, especially with their starting center Jalen Duren injured. Detroit’s performance was further hampered by the ejection of Isaiah Stewart and their inability to score from three-point range in the third quarter.

“Rebounding has been a point of emphasis for 24 games — even back into the preseason,” Williams said. “We have to be able to be a team that can finish a play.”
