The Boston Celtics seem very motivated to move Jaylen Brown this offseason.
First, they attempted to ship him to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the deal fell through. Now, they are asking for four first-round picks from teams in a potential trade.
The Celtics have apparently been calling around the league to field trade offers for Brown, but no clubs appear to be biting in the astronomical price tag thus far.
However, one terrifying team has emerged as a potential landing spot for the former Finals MVP: the Denver Nuggets.
The latest rumors have mentioned the Nuggets as a possible trade partner for Boston, and in a potential Brown deal, they would be sending Jamal Murray back to the Celtics.
Both Brown and Murray are two of the best shooting guards in basketball, but Brown is probably the better player individually.
The question is whether or not Murray would be a better fit alongside of Jayson Tatum.
Brown may have vexed the Celtics when he claimed that the 2025-26 campaign was his favorite season ever, this even though Boston was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
Remember: Brown won a title with Boston in 2024, so to state that a season in which you didn’t make it past the opening round of the postseason was your favorite is a bit odd.
It was, of course, Brown’s best statistical year, as the five-time All-Star averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game on 47.7/34.7/79.5 shooting splits. Tatum missed most of the regular season while recovering from a torn Achilles and then injured his calf in the playoffs.
At this point, it seems like the C’s have decided they are going to jettison Brown one way or another, and Denver could ultimately end up being one of their more realistic trading partners.
Whether or not that would make Brown happy is another discussion entirely, because it’s pretty clear he wants to be the top option. The Nuggets — who have Nikola Jokic — would not be able to provide that for him. However, it would make Denver an absolutely terrifying opponent.
We’ll see where Brown ends up getting dealt.
