The Edmonton Oilers are heading into a pivotal Game 3 against the Dallas Stars on Monday night. With their series tied 1-1, they have a chance to take control after stealing home-ice advantage away in Game 1. Not only are they returning to their home arena, but excellent news was provided about veteran Adam Henrique.
Adam Henrique has missed the last seven games, but he will be making his return to the lineup for Game 3. As shared by Field Level Media on ESPN, the 34-year-old will be taking the place of Ryan McLeod in the lineup.
McLeod has been a non-factor in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs to this point. The 24-year-old has not recorded a point yet in the postseason after having 30 in the regular season. He scored 12 goals with 18 assists in 81 games but has not made much an impact in the playoffs.
The last time we saw Henrique in the lineup for the Edmonton Oilers was in the second round against the Vancouver Canucks. He was listed out with a lower-body injury, which was believed to be an issue with his ankle.
Through six games this postseason, Adam Henrique has recorded one goal with one assist. He was a major acquisition by the Edmonton Oilers ahead of the trade deadline, landing him from the Anaheim Ducks.
In 82 regular season games between Edmonton and Anaheim, Adam Henrique recorded 51 points, scoring 24 goals with 27 assists. The Oilers are the third team that Henrique has played with in his career, starting with the New Jersey Devils in 2010.
Having him back in the lineup should be a major boost for the Oilers. A veteran with vast experience, he can help settle the team down during tough moments. He provides coach Kris Knoblauch with a reliable option at the center position.
