The Seattle Seahawks executed a series of roster moves on Tuesday, clearing three players from their practice squad while reshaping the unit amid larger organizational activity, via the NFL transaction wire.

The Seahawks released running back/fullback Jackson Acker, tight end Josiah Deguara, and linebacker Josh Ross from the practice squad.

These corresponding moves opened spots for the re-signing of wide receivers Montorie Foster Jr. and Malick Meiga to the practice squad.

Acker, an undrafted rookie out of Wisconsin, had joined the Seahawks’ practice squad on October 19 after a brief stint with the Buffalo Bills following the 2026 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot, 242-pound fullback brought a combination of size, speed (he ran a 4.68 in the 40), and versatility as a run-blocker and special teams contributor. His tenure proved short-lived, lasting just over a week.

Deguara, a veteran tight end and former third-round pick (2020, Green Bay Packers) out of Cincinnati, also arrived on October 19.

The 29-year-old had appeared in 78 career games across stints with the Packers, Jaguars, Cardinals, and most recently the Eagles, recording 53 receptions for 471 yards and three touchdowns.

He was signed amid tight end depth concerns, including the placement of Elijah Arroyo on injured reserve.

Josh Ross, a linebacker with prior ties to the organization, had been added to the practice squad on October 21.

He previously spent time with the Seahawks in 2024 and had connections to head coach Mike Macdonald from their shared time at Michigan and with the Baltimore Ravens. Ross provided linebacker depth and special teams options during a period of injuries at the position.

These releases coincided with significant activity on the 53-man roster.

The Seahawks acquired three-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick, then waived 2024 third-round guard Christian Haynes to create space.

The practice squad adjustments appear tied to optimizing developmental and depth options, particularly at receiver, where Foster (a fan favorite and Hard Knocks figure who made the initial 53-man roster before being waived earlier in the week) and Meiga (a Coastal Carolina product returning for a second stint) were brought back.

Practice squad churn is common throughout the NFL season as teams manage injuries, evaluate talent, and prepare for upcoming opponents.

With the Seahawks looking to bolster their offensive line via the Nelson acquisition while fine-tuning depth pieces, Tuesday’s moves reflect the ongoing roster management required of a contending team.
