Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout went 0-for-3 with a walk on Tuesday in a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners, but the more lasting news from the day came after the game.
The 12-time All-Star used the occasion to confirm he will host a youth baseball camp in South Jersey next month, bringing his growing off-field work with young players back to the region where he grew up.
Trout made the announcement on Instagram.
“Excited to kick off my first youth sports camp this summer with @flexworkmgt. Looking forward to getting out on the field, working on the fundamentals, and putting in some good work together,” he wrote.
The camp is scheduled for Oct. 11 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Total Turf Experience in Pitman, New Jersey, a short drive from Trout’s hometown of Millville.
FlexWork Sports Management is organizing the event, which is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 13. Campers will receive a limited-edition Mike Trout FlexWork Baseball Camp T-shirt, and families will get a free digital team photo with Trout afterward. Extra items from sponsors may also be available.
This is Trout’s second FlexWork camp of 2026. He held a similar session at Irvine High School in California on June 25, adding an afternoon group after the morning slot sold out.
Proceeds from the camps support the FlexWork Sports Scholarship Fund, which helps disabled and disadvantaged children attend the sessions.
Trout is batting .243 this season with 21 home runs, 52 RBIs and 81 runs scored through 132 games, along with an .806 OPS.
Across 16 major-league seasons, all with the Angels, he owns a .290 career average and 425 home runs. Even as his on-field production has settled into a more veteran profile, the Millville product has continued to look for ways to stay connected to kids who are just starting out.
The choice of Pitman is no coincidence. Trout has long been associated with South Jersey baseball, from his days at Millville High to the travel programs that helped shape him.
Holding a camp so close to home gives local families a rare chance to work with one of the game’s most recognizable figures without traveling to California. For Trout, the Tuesday announcement was another reminder that his influence now stretches well beyond the batter’s box.
While the Angels continue their late-season schedule, he is already mapping out an October afternoon on a turf field in Gloucester County, where a new group of 6- to 13-year-olds will get to hear from him in person and, if his earlier words are any guide, spend a few hours working on the basics together.
