Tankathon’s latest 2027 NFL mock draft has the Kansas City Chiefs landing Indiana wide receiver Charlie Becker, projecting the 6-foot-4, 207-pound junior 15th overall in a class headlined by Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith.
Becker has opened 2026 with seven catches for 145 yards and five touchdowns, a 20.7-yard average. He had four receptions for 64 yards and two scores in a 52-16 win over North Texas, then three catches for 81 yards and three touchdowns in a 55-0 rout of Howard.
Those early numbers follow a 2025 breakout in Indiana’s national championship run. Becker finished with 34 catches for 679 yards and four touchdowns and led the Big Ten at 20.0 yards per reception.
He had six catches for 126 yards in the Big Ten title game against Ohio State, a touchdown in the Rose Bowl against Alabama and two critical 19-yard receptions on third- and fourth-down snaps in the championship win over Miami.
Career totals stand at 41 receptions for 824 yards and nine touchdowns. He is the Hoosiers’ top returning receiver after first-round pick Omar Cooper Jr. and fourth-rounder Elijah Sarratt left for the NFL.
“I think he’s sneaky good and will go in the top 20 picks next year,” a Big Ten staffer told CBS Sports. “He’s straight-up fast. He’s not just a receiver who’s big and can catch jump balls. He can run and he can run routes. When you have that length and size and can adjust your body that well, it’s a cheat code.”
Scouts have tracked Becker at 20.8 to 22.5 mph and charted a high catch rate on contested throws. Size, speed and downfield production are the pitch. A full season as Indiana’s featured target is the remaining test.
Kansas City has spent years trying to replace Tyreek Hill. Rashee Rice remains the top option when available. Xavier Worthy has been more complementary than featured. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown left in free agency for Philadelphia.
Patrick Mahomes’ supporting cast at receiver has been a standing question since the Hill trade. Tankathon factors team needs into its board and updates after every game.
A mid-first-round receiver with Becker’s frame would give Mahomes a different look than the smaller, faster targets Kansas City has preferred. Contested-catch ability and yards after the catch on vertical shots fit an offense that has ranked in the middle of the league in scoring in recent seasons.
The Chiefs are not projected near the top of the 2027 order after one week. Pick 15 on Tankathon’s board is an early snapshot, not a locked slot. Other mocks have placed Becker later in Round 1.
Smith remains the consensus first receiver off the board. Texas’ Cam Coleman is also in the first-round mix. Becker’s case is volume plus splash plays as Indiana’s new WR1.
If that production holds, Kansas City’s name will keep appearing next to his. The Chiefs need a receiver who can win outside. Tankathon already has one in red and gold.
