Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell etched her name deeper into WNBA history Thursday night, becoming the first player to score 20 or more points in 21 consecutive games.
The milestone came during the Fever’s road matchup against the Dallas Wings at American Airlines Center. Mitchell reached the mark by halftime, finishing the opening 20 minutes with 21 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including two three-pointers and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.
The Indiana Fever’s official account captured the moment simply and emphatically.
“Kelsey Mitchell is ELITE,” the post read. “21 games in a row is now the new WNBA record for most consecutive games scoring 20+ points.”
Mitchell’s streak, which began in late June, surpassed the previous mark of 20 consecutive 20-point games held by Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson. Wilson’s run stretched across the final games of the 2023 season and the early portion of 2024. Mitchell achieved her 21-game sequence entirely within the 2026 regular season, a distinction that further elevates the accomplishment.

Entering the contest, Mitchell was averaging 24.3 points per game, ranking second in the league behind only Wilson. She has shot 50.7 percent from the field and 44.3 percent from beyond the arc while playing 32.8 minutes a night. The 5-foot-8 guard from Cincinnati also recently broke the Fever’s single-season franchise scoring record, reaching 891 points through 37 games.
The Fever arrived in Dallas with a 24-12 record and momentum from five straight victories. Mitchell has been central to that surge, pairing with teammate Caitlin Clark to form one of the most productive backcourts in league history. The duo has each scored 20 or more points in the same game a record 16 times this season.
Mitchell’s consistency has been remarkable. Over the course of the streak she has produced multiple 30-point outings, including a 37-point explosion at Minnesota and a 33-point effort against New York. Defenses have struggled to contain her off-ball movement, quick release and ability to finish at the rim or create space for midrange jumpers.
Fever coach Stephanie White has repeatedly praised Mitchell’s scoring gravity, noting how it creates opportunities for teammates. The veteran guard’s efficiency and durability have also stood out; she has appeared in every game this season while maintaining elite production.
Wilson’s previous record of 20 had stood as the gold standard since June 2024, when it ended with an 11-point performance against Washington. Before Wilson, the mark belonged to Diana Taurasi, who posted 13 consecutive 20-point games across the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Mitchell has now moved past both legends in a single, uninterrupted stretch.
At 30 years old and in her ninth WNBA season, Mitchell continues to elevate her game. Drafted second overall by Indiana in 2018 out of Ohio State, she has steadily increased her scoring average year after year. Last season she averaged a then-career-high 20.2 points. This year she has taken another significant leap.
The timing of the record adds resonance. The Fever are battling for playoff positioning in a competitive Eastern Conference, and Mitchell’s reliability gives them a proven closer and primary option when defenses key on Clark. Her free-throw accuracy and three-point volume have provided consistent second-half scoring bursts throughout the streak.
Mitchell entered Thursday’s game listed as probable with an illness after exiting early in the previous contest against Toronto due to overheating. She showed no lingering effects, attacking aggressively from the opening tip and converting opportunities both in transition and half-court sets.
As the second half unfolded with the score tied 42-42, Mitchell’s historic night was already secure. The official league account later confirmed the breakthrough: the 21-game run stands alone at the top of the all-time list.
The achievement underscores a broader narrative of growth for both Mitchell and the Fever franchise. Once a struggling team, Indiana has become a consistent contender behind a core of Mitchell, Clark and Aliyah Boston. Mitchell’s scoring explosion has been the steadiest force in that rise.
Whether the streak continues remains to be seen, but the record itself is now permanent. Twenty-one consecutive games of 20-plus points places Kelsey Mitchell in exclusive company and redefines the standard for sustained offensive excellence in the WNBA.
