Jimmy Butler, the Golden State Warriors forward, recently shared his thoughts on his past six years with the Miami Heat, maintaining a notably practical perspective on his tenure.
“We were alright,” Butler stated after Saturday’s Warriors’ 124-115 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. “We didn’t win nothing like we were supposed to. So I don’t know. We made some cool runs. We had some fun. I think that’s all we did.”
Jimmy Butler Had Successful Miami Heat Career

Butler’s stint with the Heat did not culminate in an NBA championship, despite reaching the NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023 and the Eastern Conference Finals in 2022. His time in Miami ended sourly, reflecting the complex nature of his departure from the team.
His remarks suggest a lack of sentimental attachment to his Miami years, focusing instead on the team’s failure to secure a championship. “Playoff Jimmy,” as he was known during the postseason, consistently elevated his game, averaging 24.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists over 64 playoff games with the Heat.
Despite Miami’s consistent playoff appearances and overachieving based on preseason odds—ranging from 14th to 13th in championship likelihood during Butler’s tenure—Butler underscored that the team fell short of its ultimate goal.
Jimmy Butler Set to Face Miami Heat with Golden State Warriors

The Warriors will face the Heat in Miami on Tuesday, marking Butler’s first game against his former team since his trade.
At 35 years old, Butler’s reflection on his time with the Heat lacks nostalgia but remains a candid acknowledgment of the successes and shortcomings of that period.
As time progresses, Butler’s view on his Miami years might evolve, but for now, he remains focused on his current campaign with the Warriors, who are vying for playoff positioning in the Western Conference.
