With the 2024 NBA Draft nearly here, Sacramento Kings rumors have begun to pick up. The team will be motivated to find upgrades this offseason after missing out on the 2024 NBA Playoffs, losing in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
Their loss to the New Orleans Pelicans could actually prove to be a blessing in disguise. Because they landed in the lottery, they were able to keep their 2024 first-round pick.
Had they made the postseason, the pick would have conveyed to the Atlanta Hawks from the Kevin Huerter trade. But, they will be on the clock at No. 13 come Wednesday night.
Alas, that pick may not be theirs for very long. According to recent Kings rumors, the No. 13 pick is already being shopped on the trade market. One team who Sacramento had trade talks with is the Chicago Bulls.
According to Sam Amick and Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Kings offered their first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft to the Bulls in exchange for Alex Caruso. According to Kings rumors, that was turned down and Caruso was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Josh Giddey.
Trading Caruso, who is a valuable asset, straight up for Giddey surprised a lot of people. They will be even more shocked to learn that the Kings were offering a lottery pick in exchange for the veteran guard and it was turned down.
Expect Kings rumors to continue floating around right up until they are on the clock at No. 13. They have done their due diligence when it comes to scouting players who could be available at that spot.
But, in an ideal world, the team would add a win-now player to help improve the roster, not another rookie. Keep an eye on Sacramento, as Kings rumors would suggest they are going to try and wheel and deal in the hours leading up to the draft.
