ESPN recently spoke about how every team in the NBA could nail the offseason. What would the Minnesota Timberwolves have to do to achieve this?

It was a really good season for the Minnesota Timberwolves this year. The young Wolves made the Western Conference Finals after shockingly beating the Denver Nuggets.

In the playoffs, it became clear that Anthony Edwards is ready to be a star in the league, and the Timberwolves have to make sure they are making the most out of him. Recently, ESPN spoke about how the Timberwolves could nail this offseason. Here’s what they had to say.

The Timberwolves first need to figure out who will own the team after prospective buyers Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez initiated mediation to resolve their dispute over assuming majority ownership from Glen Taylor, who announced in March they’d missed deadlines to do so.

Whoever owns the team must be prepared to foot a massive luxury tax bill with extensions for Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns kicking in. Although Minnesota should explore a Towns trade with an eye toward future payroll relief with reserves Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Naz Reid a year away from unrestricted free agency, the right move is probably keeping the core together — for now. — Kevin Pelton

Getting the ownership situation to create stability will be priority No. 1, but the Minnesota Timberwolves do have some big decisions to make on the roster. With Edwards emerging as the go-to guy, the Timberwolves could look to move on from Karl Anthony-Towns.

A multi-time All-Star, he did have a disappointing series against the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals. The Timberwolves are paying KAT to be a star, and he wasn’t that for them in the playoffs.

Luckily for Minnesota, as long as Edwards is on the team, they are going to be in a position to win and contend. However, you don’t want to waste a star entering into his prime, and the Minnesota Timberwolves must be careful to support him the best they can.
