It has taken no time for Boston Bruins rumors to start swirling after the team was eliminated from the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Florida Panthers. The one player involved in those Bruins rumors is goalie Linus Ullmark.
After leading the NHL with 40 victories in 48 starts during the 2022-23 season, Linus Ullmark was once again splitting time in 2023-24. Alas, his performance wasn’t nearly as dominant, and he was considered the 1B to the 1A of Jeremy Swayman.
As a result, the Bruins are going to do everything in their power to make a trade centered around Ullmark ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft. According to Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic, trading their goalie is a priority for Boston this offseason.
“Moving Ullmark before the 2024 NHL Draft is a priority for the Bruins,” Shinzawa wrote. “Trading Ullmark for futures, as the market once projected, could get (Bruins’ General Manager Don Sweeney) and his scouts some much-needed action at the draft table in Las Vegas.”
Ahead of the deadline in March, Linus Ullmark voiced his concerns about being traded. He didn’t have a concern about where he would end up, but didn’t want to uproot his family if possible.
According to Frank Seravelli of Daily Faceoff, the Bruins nearly finished a deal with the Los Angeles Kings centered around Ullmark. But, it didn’t get finalized before the clock struck zero, and it is certainly possible to wonder if Ullmark’s comments played a part in that.
Fascinating day for #NHLBruins, sounds like they had a deal on the table to move G Linus Ullmark to #LAKings that didn't end up crossing the finish line.

Linus Ullmark does possess a no-trade list that has 16 teams on it. He has not revealed who is on that list, but it certainly makes some trade negotiations involving him more complicated as he can block deals to certain franchises.
Expect Bruins rumors to continue swirling in the coming weeks. The 2024 NHL Draft is set for June 28th and 29th, and it sounds as if Boston is aiming to gain some capital for that event.
