New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby was the latest casualty to get bt by the injury bug on the team. In Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal against the Indiana Pacers, Anunoby came up lame while attempting a fast break layup.

He immediately grabbed his hamstring and went right to the locker room. It did not take long for the New York Knicks to announce him out for the remainder of the game. Reports indicated that it was more than a cramp, which has turned out to be correct.

We have not seen OG Anunoby back on the court since, and the Knicks have gone 1-2 without him. They will attempt to close out their series against the Pacers on Friday night, but he will not be in the lineup.

There was some hope that he may be able to get on the court, but he isn’t quite ready to return. It certainly isn’t from a lack of trying, as OG Anunoby is putting in full shifts to rehab and get his hamstring right.

According to Adam Zagoria of New York Times Sports, Anunoby is working relentlessly in rehab. His sources have revealed that the two-way star is working at least eight hours a day to get his hamstring healthy.

That would seem to be in line with what head coach Tom Thibodeau has said when giving updates on OG Anunoby. Since he isn’t playing in games, that time is used as rehab. He also rehabs when the team would be practicing or having shoot-around, as he is doing two or three-a-day workouts.

The New York Knicks certainly aren’t going to push things. His current hamstring injury isn’t considered overly serious, as a 1-2 week timetable was suggested. But, hamstrings can be finicky. If he returns too early, he could do more damage and injure himself worse.

Since acquiring OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors, the New York Knicks are 26-5 with him in the lineup, including the postseason. Without him, they are 14-16 as he is integral to their success on both ends.
