Warriors Land Nets’ Dorian Finney-Smith In Bold Trade Proposal

Dorian Finney-Smith

One NBA championship is worth its weight in gold. Getting to the top of the league’s mountain is exceedingly tricky. If your favorite team has accomplished that goal in your lifetime, consider yourself lucky.

If you’re a Golden State Warriors fan, you’re exceedingly lucky. They haven’t merely won a championship in recent years – they’ve won several. That said, it’s not likely that the Warriors will repeat that feat in 2023-24.

At least they’re not the Brooklyn Nets. This organization has never won an NBA title. They surely won’t break that streak in 2023-24.

Could they send Dorian Finney-Smith to the Warriors as a result?

NBA Trade Proposal: Golden State Warriors Land Brooklyn Nets’ Dorian Finney-Smith

Brooklyn Nets Receive: G/F Andrew Wiggins, 2026 First-Round Pick (Top 5 Protected – GSW)

Golden State Warriors Receive: F Dorian Finney-Smith, G/F Royce O’Neale

Give the Nets this much: they tried. It wasn’t so long ago that the Nets had serious title aspirations. With Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving on their roster, the Nets had more talent than anyone in the NBA.

Did they build their team the right way? Different people will give you different answers. Some will point to the Warriors as the superior team-building model. They’ll see it’s better to draft your core and let them develop chemistry.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Dorian Finney-Smith, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors Updates

Sure. Didn’t the Warriors sign Durant and win two titles with him as a featured option? In the end, talent comes first. The Nets fell apart but gave themselves a shot at the title.

Does this deal eventually give them another shot?

Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal

For the Nets, this deal has a major benefit and a drawback. They would have to decide whether the benefit was worth the drawback. Allow us to elaborate.

Wiggins’ contract is not ideal. Meanwhile, the Nets already have a problematic contract on their books with Ben Simmons. They’ll have messy books following this deal. At the same time, they’ll also have a lightly protected first-round pick.

That aligns with this organization’s likely plan. The Nets already have an impressive collection of draft capital. Here, they’re strengthening their collection to trade for a star eventually.

Should the Warriors help them add to their collection?

Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal

The Warriors are struggling. They looked stronger with Draymond Green out of the lineup for some time. By now, that doesn’t seem to be the case either. The Warriors are struggling – put.

This team needs to make some decisions. They could rebuild – the Warriors have some young talent. At the same time, they also have a Stephen Curry, who still looks like a superstar. If the Warriors made a significant roster upgrade, they could still join the ranks of the league’s contenders.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Dorian Finney-Smith, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors Updates

This should be a serious upgrade. The Warriors are landing two strong 3-and-D wings here. That will make their rotation stronger. Time will tell whether they win a title – but at least they’ll have given themselves a chance.
