Anthony Edwards’ stellar performance, with 34 points and 10 assists, propelled the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 110-98 victory over the Sacramento Kings during Saturday’s NBA action.

Rudy Gobert contributed significantly with a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds. The Timberwolves’ win, achieved in the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns due to knee soreness, elevated their record to 22-6, tying them with Boston for the NBA’s best record.

Jaden McDaniels added 20 points, and Kyle Anderson stepped up with 10 points in Towns’ absence. Minnesota’s point guard Mike Conley expressed the team’s growing confidence and ability to win in various ways, which he sees as a recipe for success later in the season.

“I think it’s starting to hit for a lot of us. We always kind of felt that we could compete with anybody. Now we’ve won a whole bunch of different ways,” Conley said.

“We’ve learned to win and come back late in games. When you take a step back and look at it, that’s a recipe for success on how to win later in the season. We’re going to continue to grow, and guys are going to continue to learn from what we’ve done so far.”

De’Aaron Fox led with 27 points and six assists for the Kings, while Domantas Sabonis achieved a triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Sacramento struggled from the 3-point line, only managing 8 out of 33 attempts, their lowest this season. Fox acknowledged the challenge posed by Minnesota’s defense, especially with Gobert’s presence.

“They’re long and athletic,” Fox said. “They get you off the line, and having Rudy back there makes you think twice about getting to the rim.”

Minnesota widened the gap with a 12-2 run at the start of the fourth quarter. Despite the Kings cutting the lead to five points in the final two minutes, a key steal and dunk by Edwards helped the Timberwolves secure their lead.

“We knew they were going to make shots and the crowd was going to get into it, but as long as we got into our stuff we were going to be alright,” Edwards said.

Edwards highlighted the team’s strategy to increase the tempo, aware of the Kings’ back-to-back game schedule. The Timberwolves had established an early lead in the first quarter and maintained their advantage going into halftime with a strong closing surge.

“We knew they were on a back-to-back,” Edwards said. “We definitely wanted to up the tempo.”

Looking ahead, the Timberwolves will face the Oklahoma City Thunder, while the Kings will take on the Portland Trail Blazers in their next games.
