NBA All-Star Trae Young’s impressive run continued, but Duncan Robinson’s historic fourth quarter propelled the Miami Heat to a 122-113 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Tyler Herro led the Heat with 30 points, while Robinson’s 21 points in the final quarter, matching his best for a quarter, were pivotal in securing the win.

Robinson’s performance, equaling his record from a 2019 game against Cleveland, drew praise from Heat coach Erik Spoelstra for his overall improvement.

“It shows you how much he’s improved all across the board,” Spoelstra said.

Young, for the Hawks, delivered yet another standout performance with 30 points and 13 assists. This marked his sixth straight game with at least 30 points and 10 assists, tying the second-longest streak in NBA history, a record only surpassed by Oscar Robertson.

Robertson achieved this feat twice, with a six-game stretch in 1964 and a seven-game stretch from 1964 to 1965. Young joins an elite group of players, including Tiny Archibald, Michael Jordan, and Russell Westbrook, who have had similar streaks. Hawks coach Quin Snyder admired Young’s high standards and consistent performance.

“You want that to be held to a high standard,” Snyder said. “That’s what I’m trying to do. That’s the standard he holds himself to.”

Jaime Jaquez Jr. contributed 19 points for Miami, and Bam Adebayo added 18 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. The Heat rallied from an 11-point deficit in the third quarter, with Robinson’s scoring surge in the fourth proving crucial.

“They’ve got a lot of guys who can play, and they’ve got a system they can play,” Young said.

For the Hawks, Dejounte Murray scored 24 points, and Bogdan Bogdanovic added 23, with 20 coming in the first half. Atlanta’s record shows a stark contrast between games where they score over 123 points and those where they don’t. Bogdanovic’s scoring off the bench continued his impressive run, paralleling a streak by Herro from the previous season.

Miami has historically performed well defensively against Young, and Friday was no exception. Despite Young’s efficient shooting, including 16 points in the fourth quarter, Adebayo noted the Heat’s varied defensive strategies against him.

“For us, it was just making him see different coverages,” Adebayo said.

Looking ahead, the Hawks will host the Memphis Grizzlies, while the Heat will play the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, part of the NBA’s Christmas Day lineup.
