Following their devastating loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, one might have expected Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to take swift action, possibly by purging the roster of underperforming players. However, his approach seems different.

On Monday, the Cowboys surprised fans by announcing the signing of eight players to reserve/future contracts.

These newly signed players include cornerback Josh Butler, wide receiver Racey McMath, linebacker Buddy Johnson, defensive back Sheldrick Redwine, tackle Earl Bostick, tight end Princeton Fant, defensive end Durrell Johnson, and wide receiver Jalen Moreno-Cropper.

These signings offer these players a chance to be part of the team during the 2024 offseason, but their futures with the Cowboys remain uncertain, especially with the upcoming free agency period in March.

The loss to the Green Bay Packers, with a final score of 48-32, was a stark defeat for the Dallas Cowboys, and it marked the most points they’ve ever conceded in a playoff game. The magnitude of this loss has fueled speculation about owner Jerry Jones considering the dismissal of head coach Mike McCarthy in the near future.

However, amidst the turmoil, the Cowboys must navigate a series of procedures to prepare for what could be a critical offseason for the team.
