The Los Angeles Rams have decided to run it back with Matthew Stafford next season, and they have already upgraded their weaponry by signing wide receiver Davante Adams.
Yes, they traded Cooper Kupp and lost Demarcus Robinson in free agency, but let’s be honest: a duo of Puka Nacua and Adams trumps having Kupp and Robinson.
Could the Rams be aiming to swing a blockbuster trade to bolster their aerial attack even further?
Bret Stuter of Ramblin’ Fan seems to think so, suggesting that Los Angeles could be weighing a major move in the NFL Draft to trade up for Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.
“It’s no stretch of the imagination to envision the Rams interest in Tyler Warren as legit. But if the Rams truly try to select Warren, how high must the team trade up to be in a position to select him?” Stuter wrote.
Stuter then went on to suggest that the Rams trade the 26th overall pick, two third-round selections and a 2026 first-rounder to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for the No. 6 pick and a fifth-rounder.
Warren is considered a can’t-miss prospect at the tight end position, with some even viewing him as a better potential playmaker than Raiders superstar Brock Bowers.
The 22-year-old hauled in 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns during his final season at Penn State and spent five years with the Nittany Lions, amassing 153 catches for 1,839 yards and 19 scores throughout his collegiate tenure.
Warren stands 6-foot-6 and possesses elite athleticism, making him one of the most intriguing prospects in this year’s draft class, much like Bowers last year.
The Rams are absolutely in need of a tight end with Tyler Higbee’s decline, so Warren makes perfect sense for them. Whether or not they would be willing to pay the cost to trade up for him, however, remains to be seen. Also, the Raiders may not be so open to moving down from the sixth pick.
