As the Indianapolis Colts look toward trying to make the playoffs, here are three players they could target in the offseason to help them at wide receiver.
With the NFL season getting closer to the playoffs, the Indianapolis Colts are not only trying to make the playoffs but have an eye toward the future. Even though Anthony Richardson was ruled out for the season early, the Colts have found ways to win this season.
Even though Richardson is out for the year, he is still the future for the Colts and this offseason will be focused on putting him in the best situation with the best weapons around him. With that being said, here are three targets at wide receiver for the Colts this offseason.
Ladd McConkey
One interesting option for the Colts would come on the second day of the NFL Draft. Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey. McConkey has been a solid three-year player at Georgia and has been a big part of their success in recent years. His best season came in 2022, as he totaled 58 receptions, 762 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. McConkey’s numbers this season haven’t been as good, as he has missed some time and only played in seven games. However, he is trending toward being a second or third-round pick this spring.
Tee Higgins
If the Colts look to make a splash in free agency at wide receiver this offseason, the No.1 target should be Tee Higgins. While Higgins has been the second option to JaMar Chase in Cincinnati, he is a No.1 caliber wide receiver in the NFL.
Since the Colts do have Michael Pittman as an impending free agent as well, Higgins could come in and either replace him or become a great duo with him. The price for Higgins wouldn’t be cheap, but he is the best free-agent wide receiver this offseason.
Keon Coleman
With the first two options being a second-day draft choice and a top free agent, the third choice would likely cost the Colts their first-round pick. That choice is Keon Coleman from Florida State.
Coleman had a very strong season for Florida State and was a big reason why they were undefeated this season. In 2023, Coleman totaled 50 receptions, 658 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns. Coleman’s ability to score touchdowns at 6’4” would instantly make him a great red-zone threat for the Colts.
With some solid options for the Colts at wide receiver this offseason, they will have to make sure they do their due diligence to pair Richardson with a good receiver.
