Very few quarterbacks can offer insights into the path to greatness quite like Hall of Famer Steve Young. Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen is hoping to reach that level at some point.
In the early stages of his career, Young faced challenges while playing in Tampa Bay. However, destiny had something extraordinary in store for him as he eventually took over the reins from the legendary Joe Montana with the San Francisco 49ers.
This transition marked the beginning of Young’s remarkable journey, leading to him becoming a three-time Super Bowl champion and a two-time MVP.
Nevertheless, it wasn’t an instantaneous accomplishment for Young; he had to work tirelessly to overcome various obstacles. Now, he believes that Josh Allen must follow a similar path if he aims to achieve the same level of success.
“Even when you’re Superman, Superman needs help and you need enough help to go get it done. I’ve said for the last three years, they have a good team. But he needs more help around him because they ask him to be Superman too much. If you notice the Bills, suddenly things get crazy and then he puts the cape on before the play is even finished. … You just cannot keep it up, you can’t make enough plays. … Get it in people’s hands, make it an efficiency game as well. Make it a Superman and efficiency. That’s the superpower.”
When we look at the last four seasons, encompassing both regular-season and playoff games, no other quarterback has managed to score more total touchdowns than Josh Allen.
Despite this impressive feat, the city of Buffalo is still awaiting postseason glory, and it’s this elusive success that Allen needs to attain to truly solidify his legacy.
There is no question that Josh Allen is a legitimate superstar. He has the potential to be one of the great quarterbacks of all-time. The advice from Young is certainly something that could help Allen take his game to the next level.
