Much like countless NFL enthusiasts, Colin Cowherd is no longer able to view the Pro Bowl as a serious representation of talent. In a recent episode of “The Herd,” Cowherd passionately criticized the selection of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes over the Buffalo Bills’ standout, Josh Allen.
Cowherd’s primary argument centers around the fact that Allen boasts a remarkable 15 more total touchdowns than Mahomes.
“Josh Allen leads the NFL with an astounding 42 touchdowns, yet he wasn’t named to the Pro Bowl,” Cowherd lamented. “If the Bills secure a victory against Miami this weekend, they’ll secure the coveted No. 2 seed. Even Tua Tagovailoa, who has consistently struggled against Josh Allen, managed to secure a Pro Bowl spot. Have you seen Mahomes’ performance this year? It’s arguably the worst of his career, yet he still made the Pro Bowl.”
The radio host didn’t merely rest on touchdown statistics; he also pointed out that Allen and the Bills had outperformed Mahomes and the Chiefs when they faced off during the regular season. This head-to-head victory further fueled Cowherd’s argument.
But Cowherd’s case didn’t stop there. He contended that Allen had been entrusted with a more demanding role this season compared to Mahomes. “Patrick Mahomes has encountered difficulties throughout the year,” Cowherd continued. “In contrast, Josh Allen has consistently exhibited superhero-like abilities.”
The question arises: do you share Colin Cowherd’s viewpoint regarding the 2024 Pro Bowl selections?
Honestly, very few will watch the Pro Bowl anyway. The game has become a glorified matchup of two-hand touch. Also, congrats to Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes on making the Pro Bowl despite the grievances.
