The New York Jets have one of the most star-studded defenses in the NFL. They are a dominant group headlined by All-Pros in defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, linebacker C.J. Mosley and cornerback Sauce Gardner.
Other excellent players are littered around the defense, such as cornerback D.J. Reed, Bryce Huff, Quinton Jefferson and Jermaine Johnson II. But, one player who seems to fly under the radar at times is linebacker Quincy Williams.
The brother of Quinnen, Quincy doesn’t receive as much publicity but he is an integral part of the Jets’ defense as well. Both players were selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, with Quinnen going third overall out of Alabama and Quincy being selected in the third round, No. 98, out of Murray State by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
While Quincy may not be a household name for casual football fans, he certainly should be after this season. His career got off to a slower start, as he played in only 18 games in his first two seasons in the NFL.

But, with the Jets, he has come into his own. He is putting together an excellent campaign, getting the job done all over the field as a versatile linebacker in the scheme head coach Robert Saleh and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbirch have put together.
In 15 games, Williams has compiled 124 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, 2.0 sacks, 10 passes defended and one interception. According to NFL Stats on X, formerly Twitter, he is the only player in the league with 100+ tackles, 15+ tackles for loss and 10+ passes defended.

In the first season of a three-year, $18 million deal signed in March, the Jets are already getting immense value out of Williams. He is outperforming the contract that he signed, buying in and producing at a high level for the team. In what has been a tumultuous year with numerous misses in the offseason, Williams has been one of the bright spots for New York and looks to be a core part of their defense moving forward.
