Bills’ Stefon Diggs’ Trainer Speaks Out On Situation With Buffalo

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs has seen his role strangely decline during the second half of the season, but his trainer, Myron Flowers, says Diggs is not bothered by it.

“It’s a unique situation because the team has had success with Diggs getting the ball and without,” Flowers told FOX Sports by text this week. “It’s about winning at this point, and he still has all the confidence in the world in his ability when his number is called.”

That’s a good attitude to have, especially considering that Diggs’ relationship with the Bills has been rather rocky over the last year or so.

On the surface, Diggs’ numbers look terrific this season. After all, he has caught 100 passes for 1,096 yards and eight touchdowns. But a deeper dive reveals that Diggs has been somewhat phased out of Buffalo’s offense over the last couple of months.

Over the first six games of the season, Diggs logged five 100-yard performances. Since then, he has recorded zero, with his last such effort coming back on Oct. 15 in a win over the New York Giants.

Also, five of Diggs’ eight touchdowns came over the first five weeks, and 70 of his receptions were tallied over the Bills’ first nine contests.

Diggs has been a major part of Buffalo’s offense since initially joining the club in 2020. He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons with the team, and in his debut campaign with the Bills, Diggs led the NFL in both catches (127) and receiving yards (1,535).

As recently as last year, Diggs snared 108 balls for 1,429 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Head coach Sean McDermott says that the 30-year-old is perfectly healthy as far as he knows, so an injury is not to blame for Diggs’ waning production.

The good news is that the Bills have won four straight games to push their record to 10-6. If they beat the Miami Dolphins this coming Sunday, they will win the AFC East division title. If they lose, however, they may find themselves out of the playoff picture entirely depending on what other teams in the conference do this weekend.

We’ll see if Stefon Diggs has something extra left in the tank in South Beach.
