Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is one of the leading candidates to win the NFL MVP award this season, but Jackson has his eyes set on bigger things.

“It’s an honor just being acknowledged — to be [in the] conversation with great guys,” Jackson said of his name being mentioned in the MVP discussion, via Ryan Mink and Clifton Brown of the Ravens’ official team website. “But I’m just trying to stay locked in trying to win, because I want another trophy.”

Jackson already has an MVP award under his belt, having taken home the honor back in 2019 after leading the league with 36 touchdown passes and racking up 1,206 rushing yards.

In spite of posting some big regular-season numbers, postseason success has eluded Jackson, as he has won just one playoff game in three appearances. Last year, the Ravens made the playoffs, but Jackson was unable to play due to a knee injury.

Through the first 13 games of this season, Jackson has thrown for 2,934 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 66.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 97.7. He has also rushed for 644 yards and five scores.

Most importantly, the 26-year-old has led Baltimore to a 10-3 record, good for the best mark in the AFC. The Ravens have an absolutely brutal schedule on tap the rest of the way, as they will head on the road to battle the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday before taking on the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers to close out the regular season.

However, Jackson is choosing not to focus on the difficult upcoming slate.

“I like playing football, so it really doesn’t matter,” Jackson said. “I’m going to have fun.”

Jackson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Louisville, was selected by Baltimore with the 32nd overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He supplanted Joe Flacco as the Ravens’ starting signal-caller midway through his rookie campaign and has been under center ever since.

Most recently, Lamar Jackson threw for 316 yards, three touchdowns and an interception while rushing for 70 yards in a Week 14 overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams.
