The Memphis Grizzlies have been plagued by injuries throughout the 2023-24 NBA season, making it a challenging year for the team. They initially had to navigate a 25-game suspension for their star player, Ja Morant, at the beginning of the season.

Just as they were gearing up for a potential playoff push in the latter half of the campaign, another blow hit them: Morant would be sidelined for the rest of the year.

Morant had only managed to play in nine games before being ruled out for the season due to a shoulder injury. His frustration with this unfortunate situation spilled over onto Twitter, where he simply exclaimed, “Damn dawg.”

To address his shoulder injury, Morant underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum. With the team holding a 13-23 record and sitting in the 13th spot in the Western Conference, their chances of making the playoffs appeared grim.

Morant had been a key contributor, averaging an impressive 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game while shooting at a 47% field goal rate. He’s widely regarded as one of the league’s most promising young talents, known for his electrifying leadership on the court, thrilling poster dunks, and overall dazzling style of play.

The Grizzlies’ injury woes extended beyond Morant, as they also missed the services of Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke this season. Derrick Rose and Marcus Smart, acquired during the season, also faced their share of health issues.

Despite these setbacks, there is a silver lining for the Grizzlies. They boast one of the most promising young teams in the league, and their struggles on the court are likely to result in a top-10 draft pick, bolstering their talent pool for the future. As the season winds down, it’s evident that Memphis faces challenges but also possesses a bright outlook for what lies ahead.
