One NBA writer is proposing that the Toronto Raptors acquire Malcolm Brogdon from the Portland Trail Blazers.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Raptors and Blazers:

The Portland Trail Blazers trade Malcolm Brogdon to the Toronto Raptors for Chris Boucher, Thaddeus Young, Malachi Flynn and a 2026 first-round pick (lottery-protected)

The Blazers acquired Brogdon from the Boston Celtics in the Jrue Holiday trade. Since Portland has the second-worst record in the West, Brogdon is better suited to play for another team.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Malcolm Brogdon, Portland Trail Blazers, Toronto Raptors Updates

The Raptors are only 11-16. They are in 12th place in the East. If Toronto doesn’t tear the roster down and trade Pascal Siakam and/or OG Anunoby, Buckley thinks the front office should trade for Brogdon.

“If the Raptors aren’t going to tear down their roster, then they should be looking to strengthen it,” Buckley wrote in his NBA trade proposal. “Adding Brogdon would certainly do that. They could use more scoring, creation and spacing, and he could help in each area. Getting him could also bump Dennis Schröder to the bench, where he arguably fits best and could give the group better offensive direction.”

The Raptors could start Brogdon, Anunoby, Siakam, Scottie Barnes and Jakob Poeltl if Toronto figured out a way to acquire Brogdon from Portland.

Brogdon is averaging 15.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists this season while shooting 41.9% from the field, 38.7% from beyond arc and 76.8% from the free-throw line. He’s making $22.5 million this season.

The 31-year-old Brogdon has career averages of 15.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists with the Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Celtics and Blazers. It will be interesting to see if the Virginia product gets traded.
