Vikings Legend Randy Moss Reveals Why He Was Better Than Jerry Rice

It is widely accepted that Jerry Rice is the greatest wide receiver to ever play the game, but Minnesota Vikings legend Randy Moss disagrees.

Moss was a guest on Kevin Hart’s Cold As Balls show, and when the subject was broached, he stated that he himself is the best wide out in history.

“Hands down, I consider myself the greatest wide receiver to ever play the game,” Moss said. “That wasn’t a shot at Jerry. I still got respect and love for Jerry. But I just thought the way that I changed the game of football.”

Moss also named his Mount Rushmore of wide receivers, placing himself, Rice, Terrell Owens and Calvin Johnson as the top four receivers of all time.

While Rice is considered the best ever due to his statistical accomplishments, there are some who feel that Moss is, in fact, the most talented pass-catcher to ever step on a football field.

Moss, who played his collegiate football at Marshall, was originally selected by the Vikings with the 21st overall pick of the 1998 NFL Draft.

He immediately stamped his name among the best wide receivers in the league, leading the NFL with 17 receiving touchdowns to go along with 69 catches and 1,313 yards during his rookie campaign.

Moss spent the first seven years of his career in Minnesota, pacing the league in receiving scores three times. He made five trips to the Pro Bowl while also earning three First-Team All-Pro selections throughout his Vikings tenure.

The 46-year-old then spent a couple of seasons with the Oakland Raiders before linking up with the New England Patriots, where he set an NFL record with 23 receiving touchdowns in 2007.

Over the course of his NFL tenure, Moss finished No. 1 in receiving scores five times. He never led the league in receiving yards, but he did post over 1,000 yards 10 times. He topped out at 1,632 yards in 2003.

Moss also had stints with the Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers.

He ended his NFL career with 982 receptions, 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns.
