Three games into the 2025-26 NBA campaign, the Golden State Warriors sit at 2-1, displaying the traits of a legitimate playoff force. Anchored by Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, the squad harbors a singular ambition: hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Following a flurry of late-offseason transactions, the team appears much stronger than last year.

That said, certain weaknesses linger, and the Warriors may seek to address them when the trade deadline arrives. It wouldn’t shock anyone if the front office pursues bold moves in the coming months.

Rumors already swirl around a potential splash. Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz has pinpointed Boston Celtics guard Derrick White as the perfect addition, citing his ability to supply lockdown defense, playmaking, and secondary scoring—attributes Golden State could desperately use.

“At 31, Derrick White isn’t exactly young anymore,” Swartz wrote. “But he would look like a spring chicken alongside Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green and Al Horford on these Golden State Warriors.”

White’s elite perimeter defense stands out as the primary draw. Capable of shadowing an opponent’s top wing night after night, he would complement an already explosive attack.

During the prior campaign in Boston, White appeared in 76 contests, posting averages of 16.4 points, 4.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, and 0.9 steals. He converted 44.2 percent of his field goals and 38.4 percent from beyond the arc.

For now, any talk remains hypothetical; no indication exists that the Celtics intend to shop White.

Should Boston dangle him, however, Golden State would be foolish to pass. Landing the versatile guard would elevate the Warriors’ ceiling on offense and defense alike.
