New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh delivered a positive update on standout wide receiver Malik Nabers following the team’s mandatory minicamp sessions. The young pass-catcher has been working through a significant injury, and the coaching staff appears encouraged by his recent advancements.

Nabers sustained a torn ACL back in Week 4 of the 2025 season, an injury that required immediate surgical intervention. He later underwent an additional procedure earlier this year to support his ongoing rehabilitation efforts. The road back to full health has tested the former Louisiana State standout, yet signs of progress continue to emerge.

Harbaugh expressed confidence that Nabers is heading in the right direction as he focuses on his recovery. The coach highlighted the receiver’s commitment to being present and putting in serious work with the team during this critical phase.

“He said his plan is to be here most of the time, almost all the time he’ll be here, I believe. I don’t think he will be here all the time. He’s going to be here a lot working really hard. He’s making really good progress right now. I’m very hopeful that he’ll be back soon,” Harbaugh said.

The head coach also pointed out the realities that come with returning from a major knee injury. Even after clearing initial hurdles, players often need extra time to regain peak condition and confidence on the field.

“Also, understand when you come back from a knee, he’ll be back, and he’ll still be building his way back to his ultimate full-strength self. But he’s doing great. He’s doing a great job. He’s made some real good progress in the last few weeks.”

Despite the encouraging tone, Harbaugh remained realistic about the challenges still facing Nabers. Recovery from such an injury demands patience and consistent effort, with no shortcuts available in the process.

“Like I said, it’s a slog, it’s a grind. He’s still in the middle of it. He’s probably not in the middle of it now. He’s probably maybe 70% through. I don’t know, something like that, 80% through,” Harbaugh said.

“He’s still grinding. It’s going to be a grind when he starts playing again too to get back right.”

The Giants organization holds strong belief that their talented wide receiver will be prepared to contribute when the 2026 regular season begins in September. However, they understand that final clearance and full readiness will depend on how the coming weeks unfold.

Throughout the minicamp period, the focus has remained on supporting Nabers’ development while integrating him thoughtfully into team activities. His presence and dedication have been noticeable, boosting morale among teammates and coaches alike.

As training camp draws closer, all eyes will stay on Nabers’ progression. The franchise views him as a cornerstone piece of the offense, and a successful return could play a major role in the team’s overall performance this upcoming year.

For now, the emphasis stays on steady, measured steps forward in his rehabilitation journey.
