Former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Levi Wallace has officially decided to step away from professional football, announcing his retirement through a direct and heartfelt social media update.

His post, which detailed a remarkable journey from an unheralded college walk-on to an undrafted free agent who went on to log a substantial career in the NFL, perfectly encapsulated the determination that defined his time on the gridiron.

Before making a name for himself at the professional level, Wallace beat the odds at the University of Alabama under legendary head coach Nick Saban.

He initially joined the Crimson Tide without an athletic scholarship, but through sheer work ethic, he eventually earned one and became a vital piece of the defense.

During his collegiate career, he won two national championships and notably started in the unforgettable 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship game against Georgia, leaving Tuscaloosa as a highly respected alumnus.

Despite his collegiate success, Wallace went unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft, but he quickly found a home with the Buffalo Bills.

Although he did not initially make the final roster cut, he stayed resilient on the practice squad before earning a promotion later that autumn.

He went on to secure a starting role opposite star cornerback Tre’Davious White, serving as a reliable fixture in Buffalo’s secondary for four seasons and contributing heavily to one of the league’s top-rated pass defenses.

Following his successful stint in Buffalo, Wallace earned a lucrative multi-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he spent two seasons and recorded a career-high four interceptions during the 2022 campaign.

He later signed with the Denver Broncos for the 2024 season, appearing in thirteen games, and had a brief offseason stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Over the course of his professional tenure, Wallace defied expectations by appearing in nearly one hundred regular-season games and commanding over seventy starts, proving that a relentless work ethic can pave the way to a long and successful career at the highest level of sports.
