The Minnesota Timberwolves eked out a 114-109 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, but the win did little to ease head coach Chris Finch’s concerns about the team’s recent offensive struggles.

Speaking after the game, Finch articulated his frustrations with the Timberwolves’ performance, highlighting the team’s inconsistency.

“It’s been who we’ve been all season, and it’s disappointing,” Finch told Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “It starts with surviving our own mistakes. We had a bunch of guys who didn’t play particularly well today, and the energy goes down around that.”

Finch also pointed to a recent downturn in the team’s scoring efficiency.

“Our offense is sputtering,” Finch observed. “Unfortunately, the last two games our offense has gotten off to slow starts. We’ve got to make more energy plays to get guys going.”

Despite a five-game winning streak and a strong record of 14-3 over their last 17 games, the Timberwolves’ offense has not been as potent, averaging just 109.5 points in recent outings against the 76ers and Brooklyn Nets — both teams with struggling records this season.

The game against Philadelphia was tightly contested, with Minnesota holding only a two-point lead with 31 seconds left. A crucial three-pointer from Anthony Edwards helped seal the win, showcasing a moment of brilliance in an otherwise lackluster offensive display.

Sitting sixth in the Western Conference with a 46-32 record, the Timberwolves are neck-and-neck with the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies. As the regular season winds down, Finch emphasized the need for heightened urgency and improved offense as the team prepares for another postseason appearance.

With just four games left in the regular season, Finch’s call for a sharper offensive focus is timely, as the Timberwolves aim to secure their playoff positioning and enter the postseason on a high note.
