Carmelo Anthony, one of the NBA’s most celebrated scorers, has been elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s class of 2025. The announcement was made on Wednesday, confirming that Anthony, often called ‘Melo,’ will be inducted on his first ballot.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Anthony was informed of his election. This honor follows his nomination as a Hall of Fame finalist in February alongside notable former players such as Dwight Howard, Buck Williams, and Marques Johnson.

Drafted third overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 2003 NBA Draft, Anthony’s professional career spanned 19 seasons with stints at the New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers.
Throughout his NBA tenure, Anthony was a 10-time All-Star and six-time All-NBA selection. He won the 2012-13 NBA scoring title and was named to the league’s 75th Anniversary Team. His career regular-season averages include 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, with a total of 28,289 points, placing him 10th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Anthony’s basketball journey was marked by early success. In his sole collegiate season, he led Syracuse to a national championship and earned the title of Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
Although Anthony never reached the NBA Finals, his international career was highly successful. He won a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and followed up with three consecutive gold medals in 2008, 2012, and 2016. At his final Olympic appearance, he held records for the most Olympic games played, points, and rebounds for Team USA.
Anthony’s impact extended beyond his impressive statistics. He was part of the 2003 draft class, considered one of the most iconic in NBA history, which also included Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James.
Set for induction in September, Anthony will join fellow legends in Springfield, Massachusetts, celebrating a storied career that has left an indelible mark on basketball.
