The Milwaukee Brewers have extended a one-year, $23.15 million qualifying offer to first baseman and outfielder Jake Bauers, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Bauers is one of eight free agents across the league who received the offer on Monday, joining names such as Seattle’s Randy Arozarena, the Chicago Cubs’ Seiya Suzuki, New York Yankees closer David Bednar, and others.

Players have until November 17 to accept or decline.

The decision arrives after Bauers delivered the best season of his career for a Brewers team that won a franchise-record 103 games and captured its first World Series title.

The 31-year-old left-handed hitter batted .266 with a .389 on-base percentage and .484 slugging percentage, launching 26 home runs and driving in 86 runs across 144 games while posting roughly a 140 wRC+ and 3.3 WAR.

He split time between first base and the outfield and provided consistent production in the middle of Milwaukee’s order.

His postseason impact proved even more memorable. Bauers was named National League Championship Series MVP after the Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He drove in six runs in the series, including a two-run ground-rule double that cut a deficit in half during the clinching Game 4 and a go-ahead home run off Blake Snell in Game 3.

Earlier in the series he wore down Yoshinobu Yamamoto with a 12-pitch at-bat that helped chase the Dodgers ace. Those contributions helped Milwaukee reach and then win the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The offer represents a significant step in Bauers’ career trajectory. He had previously bounced between several organizations and nearly considered walking away from the game before a family-driven decision to continue playing.

Milwaukee gave him an opportunity, and the results turned him into a key piece of a championship club. The qualifying offer is calculated as the average of the top 125 salaries in baseball.

If Bauers accepts, he remains under contract for 2027 at that figure. Should he decline and sign elsewhere before the next amateur draft, the Brewers would receive a compensatory draft pick.

For Milwaukee, the move balances a desire to retain a proven contributor with the financial realities of building a roster after a title.

Bauers now has just over two weeks to weigh a guaranteed one-year deal against the possibility of a multi-year contract in free agency.

His breakout season and postseason heroics have positioned him for substantial interest, making the coming days a pivotal stretch for both the player and the club that revived his career.
