The Dallas Cowboys sit squarely in the middle of the Maxx Crosby trade chatter as the November 10 deadline draws closer.
Former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib has issued a direct call for the franchise to pursue the Raiders edge rusher, arguing that Crosby could supply the spark Dallas needs on that side of the ball.
“Go get Maxx Crosby,” Talib said in an Oct. 31 video from Gridiron. “For the defense, he’ll bring energy and revitalize the team. As bad as things are right now, you bring in Porter, you bring in Crosby, and it’ll kind of hit a reset button. He’s going to help you in both aspects of the game, man. He’s quietly having a great season.
“The Cowboys are in the win-now window. Look, forget the picks. You got your quarterback. You got a cranked-up offense [and] you got guys on defense. Just solidify the team. The NFC East might not ever be this bad again. Go all in right now.”
Talib’s case rests on the idea that Dallas already possesses the core pieces of a contender. With a proven quarterback and an offense capable of producing points, the missing piece is a more consistent and disruptive defense.
Adding Crosby, in his view, would pair with recent additions such as Joey Porter Jr. and established veterans already on the roster to create a more complete unit without requiring a full teardown.
The former cornerback also pointed to the current state of the NFC East, suggesting the division may not present this soft of a path again soon.
That combination of internal talent and external opportunity is what makes the present moment feel urgent to him.
Whether the Cowboys can actually land Crosby remains an open question that only the front offices fully know.
The Raiders have not shown a clear willingness to part with the veteran edge rusher, and any deal would almost certainly require significant draft capital.
Crosby has still posted strong underlying numbers this season, including a high PFF grade, dozens of pressures, and consistent disruption even amid Las Vegas’s recent losses.
That production keeps him in the conversation for contending teams looking for an immediate boost.
For Dallas, the calculation is straightforward in Talib’s telling: the window is open, the offense is already functional, and the division offers a rare chance to make a run.
Ignoring draft-pick cost in favor of immediate help is the path he advocates.
Whether Jerry Jones and the Cowboys organization share that urgency will become clearer in the days remaining before the deadline.
