The Las Vegas Raiders enter a pivotal Week 8 matchup against the New York Jets at 3-4, with a victory returning them to .500 and a loss dropping them to 3-5 while stretching their skid to five games. Trade speculation around defensive end Maxx Crosby continues to swirl ahead of the Nov. 10 deadline, yet recent reporting indicates the veteran has no interest in leaving.

ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler addressed the situation during an Oct. 30 appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show.”

“I know Maxx Crosby’s always out there because he was technically traded,” Fowler said. “I was told Crosby does not at all want to be traded. He wants to be there in Vegas, loves Klint Kubiak and what they have going there. So, I’d be surprised if they moved Crosby.”

Through seven games, Crosby has logged 412 defensive snaps. Pro Football Focus assigns him an 86.2 overall defensive grade, ranking seventh among qualified edge defenders. He has generated 37 total pressures, placing fourth at the position.

Those pressures break down as three sacks, 21 hurries and 13 quarterback hits. Crosby has also recorded nine solo tackles and eight stops. The production underscores his ongoing impact even as the Raiders’ defense has struggled at times this season.

Fowler noted that Crosby’s name will remain in trade discussions.

“His name’s not going away, and they would probably have to get a massive haul,” Fowler added. “It would probably have to be like Jeffery Simmons, multiple ones, for them to think about it and I just don’t know if that’s going to happen.”

The Chicago Bears recently acquired defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for 2027 and 2028 first-round picks plus a 2027 fourth-round selection, with a 2028 fifth-rounder heading to Chicago. A comparable package would represent the type of return Las Vegas would likely require.

Earlier this offseason, the Raiders and Baltimore Ravens agreed to a deal sending Crosby to Baltimore for two first-round picks. Baltimore later voided the agreement following medical concerns related to Crosby’s knee, which had undergone a meniscus repair after the 2025 season.

Former Raiders offensive lineman Richie Incognito offered his perspective in an Oct. 27 video.

“He is the most valuable trade piece we have because Maxx is the heart and soul of a team,” Incognito said. “A lot of teams around the league would love to add his edge, his run-stopping ability, and his pass-rushing ability.”

Incognito continued: “I wouldn’t trade him, but I’m not calling the shots. That’s me as a friend, as an older brother, and as a guy who loves Maxx. But as someone who covers the team and is very close to the team, I think they have to consider everything.”

Crosby, 29, signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension in March 2025 that keeps him under contract through 2029. The deal carries a $35.5 million average annual value. He has earned five Pro Bowl selections and ranks among the franchise’s leaders with 71.5 career sacks.

The Raiders’ 3-4 record leaves them on the playoff bubble entering the second half of the season. A win over the Jets would improve their position and potentially reduce external pressure regarding Crosby. A defeat would intensify questions about whether the organization explores major moves before the deadline.

League reports have indicated that Las Vegas previously set an asking price of two first-round picks based on the framework of the Ravens agreement. Whether any team meets that threshold remains uncertain with roughly 10 days remaining until the deadline.

Crosby’s combination of production, contract control and stated preference to stay creates a high bar for any potential deal. The outcome of Sunday’s game against New York will shape the immediate narrative around both the team and its longest-tenured defensive star.
