The Baltimore Orioles have brought right-hander Robinson Martínez back into the organization, signing him to a minor league contract for the 2027 season, according to the official MLB transaction log.

The move, logged on October 29, 2026, returns the 28-year-old Dominican reliever to a system he previously navigated after time with the Phillies, Marlins, and Mets.

Martínez, born March 20, 1998, in Moca, stands 6-foot and weighs 190 pounds. He throws and bats right-handed and has spent his professional career almost exclusively in relief roles since his early days in the Dominican Summer League.

His path through affiliated baseball has been marked by both promise and interruption. After signing with the Phillies as an international free agent in 2014, he advanced through their system before landing with the Marlins.

His most productive stretch came in 2022 with Double-A Pensacola, where he posted a 3.15 ERA across 20 innings, striking out 25 while walking only eight.

That season highlighted the qualities that have kept him on scouting radars: a fastball that has reached the upper 90s and a slider that can miss bats when his command holds.

Injuries then intervened. Martínez spent the bulk of 2023 and 2024 on the injured list and did not pitch in affiliated ball during those seasons.

He resurfaced with the Orioles on a minor league deal in November 2024, appearing at both High-A Aberdeen and Double-A Chesapeake Baysox in 2025. Results were mixed; he recorded a 4.86 ERA in 16 2/3 innings at the Double-A level before the Baysox released him in early August.

Later that offseason, he signed with the Mets, but was released by their Double-A affiliate in April 2026.

From there, he pitched in the Mexican League with Acereros del Norte and returned to winter ball with Leones del Escogido, where the Orioles had previously seen him compete.

Career minor league numbers show a 14-14 record with a 4.91 ERA over 151 games and 233 innings, accompanied by 250 strikeouts.

The sample is modest at the upper levels, and control has occasionally been an issue.

Still, organizations routinely add arms with this profile in the offseason: inexpensive depth that can fill innings in the upper minors, compete for a spot in spring training, and potentially provide a late-season option if performance and health align.

For the Orioles, the signing continues a familiar approach of stocking the system with experienced relievers who possess usable velocity. M

artínez has never appeared in the major leagues, and the deal carries no major league guarantees.

His immediate future will likely involve a return to one of Baltimore’s Double-A or Triple-A affiliates, where he can try to string together the consistent health and command that have eluded him in recent seasons.

Whether this latest opportunity produces a different outcome remains to be seen, but the transaction log entry itself is straightforward: another right-handed arm is back in the fold.
