Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Jadarian Price is expected to return to practice in the coming days as he nears the end of his required stay on injured reserve.

Price has been sidelined since early October with a chest injury. He first hurt the area in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals, then aggravated it during a Wednesday practice ahead of a Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The team placed him on injured reserve on Oct. 3, triggering a minimum four-game absence under NFL rules.

Through three games, Price carried 28 times for 119 yards, averaging 4.3 yards per attempt. He added four receptions for 21 yards but did not score a touchdown. He also lost two fumbles, both of which went to the opponent.

Head coach Mike Macdonald provided an update during a Friday appearance on Seattle Sports.

“He’s doing great,” Macdonald said. “We should be looking at a sooner rather than later return after this [Kansas City Chiefs] game.”

Price’s first chance to play comes in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears on Nov. 2. He cannot be activated any earlier. The Seahawks have also been working to bring back Zach Charbonnet from the physically unable to perform list after knee surgery.

At Notre Dame, Price operated mostly as a backup behind Jeremiyah Love. Over three seasons he rushed for 1,692 yards and 21 touchdowns on 280 carries, averaging 6.0 yards per attempt. He caught 15 passes for 162 yards and three scores.

The Seahawks selected him with the 32nd overall pick in the 2026 draft. He signed a four-year contract and entered the season as the lead back while Charbonnet recovered.

Price’s speed has shown up in limited NFL snaps. He has forced missed tackles and produced several runs of 10 yards or more, though ball security has been an issue early in his career.

In college he was also a standout on special teams. In 2025 he averaged 37.5 yards per kick return on 12 attempts and scored twice that way, including a 100-yard return against USC. He earned first-team All-America recognition as a returner.

The Seahawks have leaned on Emanuel Wilson and George Holani in Price’s absence. Both have had their own fumbles during that stretch. A healthy Price would give the offense another option who can stretch the field on outside zone runs.

Price stands 5-foot-11 and is listed around 209 pounds. He ran a 4.49-second 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine and posted solid numbers in other athletic testing.

The Seahawks entered the week at 3-3. Their run game has ranked in the middle of the league, and coaches have said they want to get more production on the ground as the season progresses.

Price’s return timeline will depend on how he responds once he is cleared for full practice. Macdonald has indicated the medical staff is pleased with his progress so far.

If activated for the Bears game, Price would give Seattle additional depth and explosiveness in the backfield heading into the second half of the schedule.
