The Philadelphia Eagles face yet another significant setback heading into their Monday Night Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, as both of their top wide receivers have been ruled out.

DeVonta Smith will miss the game due to a hamstring injury, while Dontayvion Wicks is sidelined with an ankle issue.

The absences compound an already challenging situation for a team that has struggled to find consistency early in the season.

Smith’s hamstring problems have lingered throughout the campaign. He dealt with the injury during training camp, missed time earlier in the year, and has now been held out again after limited participation and restricted snaps in recent weeks.

Even while managing the issue, Smith has remained the Eagles’ leading receiver, recording 26 catches for 310 yards and two touchdowns across four games.

His high target volume has made him central to the offense, particularly with quarterback Jalen Hurts unavailable for the remainder of the season after blood clots were discovered in his lungs.

Backup Tanner McKee will operate without his primary pass-catching options against Dallas.

Wicks has also been limited by injury in recent weeks and did not practice fully as the team prepared for the Cowboys. His absence further thins an already depleted receiving group.

Available wide receivers include Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore, and Britain Covey. Tight end Dallas Goedert could see an increased role as McKee looks for reliable targets.

Running back Saquon Barkley is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury of his own but is expected to have a chance to play after progressing in practice.

The receiving setbacks arrive amid broader offensive upheaval. Hurts’ season-ending health issue followed the early retirement of tackle Lane Johnson and a trade that sent center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens.

Additional players, including outside linebacker Nolan Smith (concussion) and defensive back Michael Carter (abdomen), have also been ruled out. Several others remain questionable or require roster moves to become active.

For a franchise that captured the Super Bowl just two seasons ago, the accumulation of injuries and roster changes has created a difficult path.

The Monday night game against a divisional rival offers little margin for error, and the Eagles will need contributions from less-experienced or less-familiar options to generate production through the air.

How the offense adapts without Smith and Wicks will shape not only the outcome against Dallas but also the team’s approach for the remainder of a season already defined by disruption.
