The Baltimore Ravens ruled quarterback Lamar Jackson out of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a high ankle sprain.
Jackson has not played since he left a Week 4 win over the Tennessee Titans shortly before halftime on Oct. 4. This will be the third consecutive game he misses.
Tyler “Snoop” Huntley will start for the third straight week in Jackson’s place.
The Ravens listed Jackson as questionable earlier in the week after he practiced on a limited basis Wednesday through Friday. He limped noticeably to the podium after Friday’s session while speaking with reporters.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday that Jackson “has been downgraded to out for Sunday’s game against the Bengals.” Schefter added that this marks the third straight game Jackson will miss with his high ankle sprain and that Huntley will start in his place once again.
The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec wrote that the Ravens ruled Jackson out and that “it will be Tyler Huntley for third straight start.” ESPN’s Jamison Hensley also confirmed the ruling out and Huntley’s third consecutive start.
Baltimore (4-2) enters the Week 7 AFC North matchup tied with the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers for first place in the division. Cincinnati is 3-2.
The Ravens lead the AFC North in points scored with 156. They rank last in the division in points allowed at 132.
In the games he has played this season, Jackson has completed 68 of 96 passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns and one interception, good for a 119.6 passer rating. He has also rushed 19 times for 144 yards and one touchdown.
Jackson is 11-2 as a starter against the Bengals in his career. He has accounted for 3,699 total yards (2,868 passing) and 26 touchdowns (two rushing) in those games.
The contest is set for 1 p.m. ET at M&T Bank Stadium.Huntley has thrown for 429 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in his appearances this season. He has also added a rushing touchdown.
Jackson’s extended absence tests an offense built around his dual-threat ability even as the Ravens remain among the contenders in a tightly bunched AFC North.
The official ruling out came Saturday, confirming Huntley will handle the starting duties for the division game.
The Ravens have gone 1-1 in the two full games Jackson has missed so far this season.
