The Boston Celtics have completed their final roster trims ahead of the regular season by waiving four training camp invitees.
Hayden Gray, Milos Uzan, Gabe McGlothan, and Tucker DeVries were all placed on waivers after spending camp with the team on Exhibit 10 contracts, via the NBA transaction log.
Those short-term deals are commonly used to bring in additional players for evaluation without committing to full roster spots or guaranteed salaries.
The moves leave Boston with 17 players under contract, including 14 on standard NBA deals.
The remaining camp invitee, Devin Carter, had his agreement converted to a two-way contract, completing the Celtics’ opening night roster.
The organization has long planned to carry only 14 standard contracts rather than a full 15-man roster, because adding another guaranteed salary would push the team over the luxury tax threshold.
All four waived players saw action in at least two preseason games. Uzan and Gray produced the most noticeable numbers in limited minutes.
Uzan averaged 8.0 points in 14.1 minutes per game, while Gray contributed 6.5 points and 4.0 assists across 15.7 minutes per contest.
Their production stood out relative to the rest of the group, though none of the four secured a lasting place on the NBA roster.
The four players are expected to join the Maine Celtics of the G League. Because they were signed to Exhibit 10 contracts, they remain eligible for bonuses of $91,000 each if they spend at least 60 days with Boston’s affiliate.
Those incentives provide a modest financial reward for continued development within the organization’s system after their brief look with the parent club.
With the cuts finalized and Carter’s conversion pending, Boston enters the regular season with a clear roster structure.
The decision to leave the final standard roster spot open reflects a calculated approach to the salary cap and luxury tax, while still giving several young or developmental players an opportunity to showcase themselves during camp and the preseason.
The four waived players will now have a chance to continue their seasons in Maine, where consistent minutes and the potential for bonus compensation await.
