The San Antonio Spurs have waived guard Jon Elmore, according to the NBA transaction log. The move ends a brief training-camp stay for the 30-year-old who signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the team on September 24.
Elmore, a 6-foot-3 undrafted guard out of Marshall University, appeared in four preseason games for the Spurs.
He totaled five points and six assists in 38 minutes while shooting 2-of-8 from the field. His minutes were limited, and he did not separate himself enough to earn a standard roster spot as San Antonio trims its camp roster ahead of the regular season.
The Exhibit 10 deal was structured with the typical path in mind: a short look at the NBA level followed by an expected assignment to the organization’s G League affiliate.
Multiple reports indicate Elmore is likely headed to the Austin Spurs, where he can continue developing and potentially earn a training-camp bonus if he spends the required time with the G League club.
This outcome fits a familiar pattern for Elmore. He has previously received brief NBA camp opportunities, including Exhibit 10 or similar deals with the Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings that also ended in waivers.
His professional résumé is built primarily in the G League, where he has been a productive playmaker.
With the Stockton Kings last season he averaged roughly 12–14 points and more than five assists per game across nearly 50 appearances, showing the scoring and facilitation that first drew attention at Marshall.
At Marshall, Elmore was a three-time All-Conference USA selection and a high-volume scorer and passer.
He averaged nearly 20 points and six assists for his career while becoming the conference’s all-time leading scorer and one of its top assist men.
Those college numbers have translated into reliable G League production, even if NBA minutes have remained elusive.
For the Spurs, the decision is routine roster management during the annual preseason cutdown.
The team continues to shape its roster around established players and younger prospects while using Exhibit 10 contracts to evaluate experienced G League talent.
Elmore’s waiver clears a camp spot without affecting the core group. He remains under organizational control for the immediate future if he reports to Austin.
At 30, his path to a lasting NBA role is narrow, but another strong G League season could keep him on the periphery of league rosters or open doors overseas.
For now, the transaction log simply records the end of one more short-lived NBA camp stay for a well-traveled guard.
